Probate and Estate Administration

Obtaining a grant of representation and dealing with the administration of an estate can be complicated and time consuming; it can take several months to make sure everything is done correctly to protect the interests of both the personal representatives and the beneficiaries.

At Acer Prime Law we offer fixed price probate assistance, where the executors do some of the work, or a complete estate administration service to deal with everything for you. Every probate matter is different, which is why we encourage you to contact us so we can provide you with an estimate outlining a range of potential fees to make sure you get the right amount of support to meet your own circumstances.

An example of our costs in making an application for the grant:

To prepare and submit an application where the executor has completed the inheritance tax return IHT205 £295 +VAT

To complete the IHT205 from information supplied by the executor, prepare and submit the application £695 +VAT

To complete IHT400 and schedules from information supplied by the executor, prepare and submit the application £1995 +VAT

Complete estate administration

For a straightforward grant of probate to administer a non-taxable estate where there is a valid will, no more than one property in the sole name of the deceased, no more than three bank accounts and no debts (other than utility bills), with the estate passing to a single beneficiary we estimate our costs to be £1500-2500 plus VAT and disbursements (costs paid to third parties). For more complex or taxable estates our costs average 1.5 – 2.0% of the gross estate plus VAT.
